Privacy Policy for GA Top Posts

Effective Date: April 13, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how the GA Top Posts plugin and its associated service handle information. This policy applies specifically to the information processed in relation to the functioning of the GA Top Posts plugin and the service account required to use it. It does not cover the general data practices of the website where the plugin is installed.

  1. What the Plugin Does

GA Top Posts leverages data from your Google Analytics account to identify and display your website’s top-performing content within your WordPress site. To achieve this, the plugin requires connection to our processing service.

  1. Information We Access and Use

To provide the GA Top Posts service, we access or collect the following information:

  • Account Registration Information: When you (the website administrator or owner) register for the GA Top Posts service account, you will use a Single Sign-On (SSO) provider (Google, GitHub, or Microsoft). We receive basic profile information from your chosen provider, typically including your name and email address. This information is used solely to create and manage your service account, enabling you to use the plugin.
  • Website URL: We collect the URL of the website where the plugin is activated. This is used strictly for license validation and management purposes.
  • Google Analytics Data: You explicitly authorize our service to access data from your connected Google Analytics property. Our service processes this data on your behalf to identify your top posts based on your chosen metrics. This processing occurs on secure Google Cloud infrastructure. The results (e.g., lists of top posts) are then made available via a secure API to be cached within your WordPress database for display by the plugin on your site.

Note: The GA Top Posts plugin itself does not independently collect personal data from your website visitors. It relies on accessing the Google Analytics data you already collect and authorize us to process. Any anonymous Google Analytics tracking mentioned pertains to the general website analytics setup and is separate from the data processed by this plugin’s core service.

  1. How We Use Your Information
  • To provide, maintain, and improve the GA Top Posts service.
  • To create and manage your user account.
  • To validate your license.
  • To process your authorized Google Analytics data to identify top-performing content.
  • To deliver the processed results to the plugin on your website.
  • To communicate with you regarding your account or support requests.
  1. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
  • Account Information: Your basic account details (name, email, website URL) are stored securely within our service infrastructure.
  • Processed Analytics Data: Statistics and processed analytics data derived from your Google Analytics account are stored securely in documents associated with your user account on Google Cloud. Results intended for display are cached temporarily within your website’s WordPress database.
  • Security: We implement reasonable security measures to protect the information we handle. Processing occurs on secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Retention and Control: You control the Google Analytics data accessed by our service. You can manage filtering options within the service. Processed data associated with your account is retained while your account is active. You have the ability to deactivate and delete your service account via self-service options, which will result in the deletion of your account information and associated processed data from our systems. Data cached within your WordPress database is typically cleared based on plugin settings or upon uninstallation.
  1. Data Sharing

We do not share any personal information or processed Google Analytics data collected or accessed through the GA Top Posts service with third parties, except as necessary to provide the service (e.g., using Google Cloud for processing) or if required by law.

  1. Cookies

The GA Top Posts service website or plugin settings interface may use cookies. These cookies are used solely for essential function purposes, such as remembering user preferences and managing your logged-in session for the service account. They are not used for tracking visitors on the website where the plugin is installed.

  1. Your Data Rights and Choices

As the user of the GA Top Posts service:

  • You control which Google Analytics property data is connected to our service.
  • You can manage your service account, including deactivating or deleting it entirely through self-service options. Deleting your account removes your associated data from our service.
  • You manage the plugin’s settings and cache within your WordPress environment.

Requests regarding personal data handled by the website where the plugin is installed should be directed to the owner of that website.

  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes, potentially through plugin update notices or announcements on our service website.
